A University of British Columbia graduate, Dr. Brett completed his dental degree with academic recognition, including the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia Scholarship, which is awarded for high academic standing in the graduating class.

After practicing in the Lower Mainland, Dr. Brett relocated to Victoria, drawn by the outdoor lifestyle that Vancouver Island has to offer. He moved to the Island in 2020 and developed a strong connection to the local community.

Patient education is the cornerstone of his practice philosophy. Dr. Brett emphasizes taking the time to answer questions and ensuring patients feel comfortable and well-informed before making any decisions regarding treatment. In order to provide comprehensive treatment, he stays up to date on clinical research through study clubs and continuing education courses.

Being an active part of the community is important to Dr. Brett. He has previously served as a director on youth soccer boards, volunteered with a crisis service center, and while in dental school, participated in providing emergency dental care to underserved communities.

When not working, Dr. Brett can be found on the soccer field, kiteboarding, trying out new recipes, and spending time with his family.

Before embarking on a journey into the world of dentistry, Dr. Dan Goldberg graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bed, and a BSc. Four years later he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with his Dental degree. With over 18 years’ experience in the dental field he has a diverse background in all aspects Dentistry, but has a keen interest in oral surgery.

He has travelled to Mexico, and Guatemala to provide oral surgery to people who are in pain and unable to access dental surgery. Dr. Goldberg also enjoys helping to teach other fellow dentists on surgical techniques to help them feel more confident and successful when they are performing oral surgery. In 2009 Dr. Goldberg had the opportunity to work as an instructor at the University of Alberta in the Radiology department, while also conducting stem cell research on growing teeth.

Outside of Dentistry there is nothing Dr. Goldberg enjoys more than spending time with his family and going on adventures with them. He is also an avid nature photographer, yoga instructor, gardener, and kayaker.

Born and raised in Victoria, Dr. Walker serves the community she calls home. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from the University of British Columbia, where she developed a foundation in patient-focused dental care. In 2024, Dr. Walker travelled to Jamaica as part of a dental outreach program, where she helped provide dental care and education to underserved communities.

Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Walker worked in a research lab with BC Cancer, where she gained healthcare experience. Although she found the work meaningful, her interest in building clinical connections and making a direct impact inspired her to transition into dentistry.

Taking a patient-informed approach to dentistry, Dr. Walker focuses on creating a comfortable environment where patients feel heard, informed, and at ease throughout their dental experience. Her goal is to help every patient feel confident in their oral health while providing personalized care.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Walker enjoys scrapbooking, going for runs, and ocean swimming activities that help her stay active and connected to the West Coast lifestyle.

Michelle grew up in the Lower Mainland and relocated to Victoria in 2020, where she began her career in the dental field. With extensive experience in office management, Michelle brings valuable expertise to her role, ensuring the team operates smoothly and efficiently. Having previously worked in an orthodontic office, she has exceptional knowledge of Invisalign and is passionate about educating patients on these innovative options to improve their smiles. Michelle is dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment for every patient, making each visit a positive and memorable experience.

Outside of her professional role, Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors, playing board games, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. A lover of French Bulldogs, she finds joy in their playful personalities, which never fail to bring a smile to her face.

Darren is a first-generation Chinese Canadian who was raised in the Lower Mainland and relocated to Victoria in 2016. He began his career as a Certified Dental Assistant before returning to Camosun College to pursue a Diploma in Dental Hygiene, further advancing his skills in the field. Darren graduated with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals Award for Highest Achieving Junior Student and the Dianne Gallagher Spirit Award.

As a Registered Dental Hygienist, Darren ensures patient comfort in the dental environment while addressing their needs through education and promoting patient autonomy. He takes pride in providing a personable and satisfying experience in a relaxed, caring atmosphere while delivering the highest quality dental hygiene care.

Outside of work, Darren has a strong passion for food and cooking. He also enjoys dancing, hiking, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Born and raised in Victoria, Ashley provides exceptional patient care, focusing on making each visit comfortable and informative. She believes in educating her patients and empowering them to make informed decisions about their care. Ashley strives to create a judgment-free environment where patients feel at ease, both physically and mentally. She is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care and ensures patients feel valued and comfortable throughout their dental experience.

Beyond the office, Ashley enjoys painting, crafting, playing golf, and pickleball. She is eager to explore new creative hobbies and is currently learning how to sew. Ashley shares her home with her friendly yellow lab, Nala, who occasionally joins her at the office to bring a little extra joy to the day.
 

Originally from Nigeria, Vina brings a warm and compassionate approach to her role as a Certified Dental Assistant at Urban Smiles. She is deeply passionate about helping patients feel confident and comfortable during their visits, ensuring each person receives personalized care in a welcoming environment. Always open to new experiences, Vina values connecting with others and building lasting relationships, both in and outside the dental office.

When away from the office, Vina loves spending quality time with family and enjoys dreaming about her next adventure.

Born and raised on beautiful Vancouver Island, Maddy brings a warm and caring approach to her role as a Dental Assistant at Urban Smiles Victoria. Maddy is committed to providing exceptional care and is dedicated to ensuring a comfortable and positive patient experience.

When she’s not at work, Maddy is an avid adventurer who loves discovering new hiking spots on the island and is a certified scuba diver. Whether hiking through the forests or exploring the depths of the ocean, Maddy is always on the lookout for her next adventure.
