What is a Root Canal?
Your teeth are held in place by deep roots that reach into your jaw. When the soft tissue in the “canals” of these roots becomes infected, it’s necessary to stop the infection. Root canal treatment (commonly known as a “root canal”) is the process dentists use to stop the infection and reinforce the affected tooth or teeth so you can go on living pain-free.
How Are Root Canals Treated?
A root canal treatment aims to remove the infected tissue and replace it with strengthened material. Our dentists do this by opening up the tooth, cleaning out the infected tissue, filling it with a common dental material called “gutta percha,” and restrengthening the tooth using a filling or dental crown.
