Inlays and Onlays in Victoria
When a crown is not necessary, but a filling is not quite enough to strengthen and protect a tooth, our dentists may use inlays and onlays. Both types of prosthetics are manufactured outside the mouth using molds of your teeth, then applied to the affected tooth and cemented in place. They can be an excellent option to repair damaged teeth.
Inlays vs. Onlays
Inlays and onlays differ in the amount of coverage they offer for a tooth. Inlays fit between the cusps (ridges) of the molars, while onlays include one or more of the cusps. The level of tooth damage and preparation that needs to be done to repair the tooth will determine which type of prosthetic is needed.
